Warrenton, OR - Catherine (Cathy) Tagnipes Wallace, 67, passed away Wednesday morning, January 7th, at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland from complications of a heart attack. She was born on February 23, 1958, in Ventura, California, where she grew up and went to school.
On a warm, sunny California afternoon on the beach, she met the love of her life, Duncan Wallace, and the couple married in April 1976.
Together, Cathy and Duncan were creative and adventurous. While raising their five incredible children, they bought and sold several homes from Ventura to Atascadero, California. Then, when Cathy's Mom passed away in 2000, they packed up the family and moved to Oregon to be close to her sister Mary. Once in Oregon, they continued to explore building and creating warm, beautiful homes in Tigard and Seaside, and finally settling in Gearhart.
She was a follower of and believer in Jesus Christ and devoted her love and compassion to family and friends. She would often be found volunteering with the Assistance League or fellowshipping with her small group for Bible study on Tuesday nights and participated in weekly YouTube Bible fellowship with dear friends, but the time she cherished most was gathering with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She loved gardening, interior design, live music, dancing, and organizing social events. She was an excellent seamstress, an avid reader, a very talented staff photographer in her late teens, a strong swimmer throughout her adult life, and a determined pickle ball enthusiast.
Cathy was preceded in death by her Father, Pio Makiling, and Mother, Flocerfina (Flo) Makiling. Survived by husband Duncan Wallace Jr, sister Mary Christian, and brothers John Makiling and William Makiling, cousin George Tejada, cousins Priscilla Martinez and Barbara Ames, daughters Lauren Babb, Camille Youngquist, and Mari Magstadt, sons Duncan Wallace Ill and Sean Wallace, grandchildren Attikin Babb, Lily Foster, Mason and Myles Magstadt, Emma Youngquist, Duncan IV & Bo Wallace, brother-in-law David Wallace, sister-in-law Mary Schlunegger, step-daughter Kristin Wahlenmaier, step-grandson Dylan Wahlenmaier, and last but not least, all her amazing nieces and nephews William, Jeffrey, Maki, Ashly, Cameron, Makai'a, Tiona, Shelby, Serena, Kyle, Ryan, Alyssa, Alisa, Courtney, Kelly, and Alex.
