Christine April White (Christy) Obituary
Astoria - Christy was born in Woodland, CA to Benjamin and Helen White on April 19, 1963. The family moved to Warrenton, OR when she was 3 years old which is where she spent the rest of her life.
Christy was a bright light in the community and was loved by many. She is known for her big smile and contagious laugh. She worked most of her life as a grocery store clerk starting at Bayside Sentry, Hauke's Sentry, Safeway, and then the last 5 years of her life at Costco. She got to know her customers throughout the years and became friends with many of them. People loved that she would remember their names and always ask about their families. Some say "she never met a stranger". A lot of people would go through her line on purpose just to chat with her.
Christy enjoyed volunteer work. It started with her son's Boy Scout troop 509 where she spent a lot of time hosting the troop in her home and going on field trips. Later in life she volunteered at the Warrenton Library and as an usher at the Liberty Theatre.
Christy cherished spending time with family and never missed an opportunity to tell them she loved them and how proud she was. She had a love for books, loved to cook and preserve canned food, taking care of her plants, and enjoyed being in nature, especially walks on the beach. While her home was in Warrenton, her heart was in Hawaii. Every time she visited, she thought about staying.
Christy would say her greatest accomplishment in life was her son, Michael. She was the proudest of him and all of his accomplishments and she loved to tell people what new project he was working on.
She is survived by her son, Michael White; brother, Paul White (Michele); sister, Jean Myers; brother, Lee White; sister, Pat Teater (Mike); niece, Stacey Medina (Oscar); niece, Sorena Reynolds; niece, Heather Jenson (Joe); nephew, David White (Asami); niece, Amy White; niece, Linda White; niece, Laticia White; nephew, Lee Jr. White, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Christy is already terribly missed by her friends and family and will live in our hearts forever. We are deeply grateful for the time we had with her and will carry her love and memory with us, always.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
