Clinton Everrett Carter Jr. (Clint) Obituary

Ocean Park, WA - Clinton Everrett Carter Jr, 70, finished his journey with cancer on May 13, 2025.

Clint was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on December 1st, 1954 to Clinton Sr. and Wanda Carter. He was the baby of the family and was doted on by his brothers and sister. Music was an important part of family life with Clint Sr. being an accomplished guitar player. Clint's music career started in 4th grade with the accordion, then tuba. When Clint was 10, he was so energized by a song on the radio, he ran outside and started beating the landlord's cherry tree with two fallen branches. Old Man Maynard Drown came out of his house with an old wooden snare drum with two broken cowhide heads and a mismatched pair of drumsticks, thrust them at Clint, and said, "Here, beat on this instead of my cherry tree." The rest was history.

After marrying and the birth of his daughter, Terra in 1974, Clint settled in Sunnyside, Washington for 30 years. He spent most of that time working at K&U Auto Parts, then worked for the City of Sunnyside as a Water Systems Tech.

After marrying Laurie in 2003, they moved to Ilwaco, Washington, where they opened up the Imperial Schooner restaurant, which became a favorite among locals. During this time, Clint became invested in the local blues music scene and fronted bands Hindsight 20/20, Buoy 10, and North Coast Blues. He participated in the annual Blues and Seafood festival in Ilwaco. In 2017, Clint ventured out on his own and created the Peninsula R&B Festival in Ocean Park, Washington.

Clint is survived by his wife, Laurie, daughter, Terra, bonus children, Hilary and Alexandra, along with grandchildren Jacob, Trenton(Ali), Sable, and Anastasia(Branden), and Great-granddaughter Mavis. Clint was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Sr. and Wanda Carter and brother Charles Garrett.

Clint was a dynamic force and will be considerably missed by everyone whose lives he touched. A celebration of life is pending. In Clint's memory, please consider donating to your local food bank, high school band program, or veteran's program.
