Astoria, OR - Daniel Patrick Dugan passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, as a result of health complications and sepsis. Dan had been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency in late 2024 and struggled to regain control over his health since that time. He was born September 14, 1969 and left this world too soon, at just 55 years old. As a young man, Dan spent hours playing pool in his family's basement. He became very skilled at billiards and his parents decided to get rid of the pool table for fear of his grades slipping. As a native Oregonian, Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and generally spending time outdoors.

After graduating from Knappa High School, Dan spent time working in construction and honing his carpentry skills. Although he went on to choose a different career, these carpentry skills were put to good use in later years. One of Dan's favorite hobbies was creating large, unique, and meticulously painted wooden outdoor Christmas decorations. Dan earned his CDL and spent his career as a log truck driver for Pellham Cutting, Inc. While Dan would not have considered himself fluent, he spoke a decent amount of German with his German-native mother and her family. Over his lifetime, he made several trips to Germany to see his extended family. Most recently, Dan visited Germany with his mother and sister in May 2023. Dan was active in his local AA group and celebrated 8 years of sobriety in December 2024. Dan was a kind and gentle soul, who will be missed by those who knew him.

Dan is survived by his sister Colleen Andretti (Collin Burns). He is preceded in death by his father Jim Dugan and two months to the day by his mother Erika Dugan.

In keeping with Dan's wishes, there will not be a formal memorial service. Rather, there will be a Celebration of Life at Pier 39 in Astoria, OR on June 13th from 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donating to Adrenal Insufficiency United, which offers support to individuals and caregivers affected by adrenal insufficiency, and is based in Astoria, OR.
