Astoria, Oregon - Elaine Kay Mart, 68, passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Elaine was born on September 11, 1956, to John and Louise Hendrickson and was the youngest of four sisters. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from caring for the people she loved. She was known for her gentle presence, quiet strength, and the deep kindness she extended to everyone around her. Whether through a warm conversation, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being there when it mattered most, Elaine made those in her life feel truly valued and loved.

She worked for many years as a teacher's aide in the school district, where her patience and compassion made a lasting impression on the students and staff she worked with. She also enjoyed attending church regularly and found personal meaning in her faith.

Elaine loved spending time with family and treasured being part of birthdays, holidays, and other special moments. She enjoyed traveling and creating memories on family trips, especially to Disneyland, one of her favorite places. She also played a special role in helping care for her grandson Axel during his early years, a time she cherished deeply. Elaine had a deep love for animals and cared for them throughout her life.

Elaine was married to her husband, Brian Mart, for over 45 years until his passing in December of 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Louise Hendrickson, and two of her sisters, Joyce Brown and Patricia Heiner. She is survived by her sons: Scott Mart and his fiancée Venus Larson and her son Joe Thorne; and Steve Mart and his wife Laura (Johnson) Mart, and their son Axel. She is also survived by her sister Nancy Junes and her husband Brad of Astoria; sister-in-law Diana (Mart) Collins and her husband Doug of Colorado; brother-in-law Gary Brown and his wife Nancy of Albany; brother-in-law Gary Mart of Bend; and her nieces and nephews: Craig, Mike, Tricia, Charlie, Jennifer, Theresa, Stuart, Weston, Cedric, Justin, and Ryan, who will always carry her memory in their hearts.

Elaine will be remembered for her loving nature, quiet strength, and the steady presence she provided to those around her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, especially her family, whom she loved with all her heart.

A service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, July 12th at 1:30pm at Peace First Lutheran Church on 725 33rd Street in Astoria, Oregon.
