Jack loved hunting, fishing, camping, and doing anything outdoors. Many knew him as Captain Jack, as he loved to take people fishing on his boat, which he lived on in Ketchikan, Alaska. He could entertain the listener for hours with his stories of fishing, logging, life on the farm, and his family. He had an excellent memory for jokes, and his legend will live on in those who share them. Jack spent most of his career working as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic, but his passion was fishing. Jack was a Gillnetter when he lived in Oregon, and when he lived in Alaska, he would spend his vacations Gillnetting in Bristol Bay, Alaska, with his longtime friend Wally.
The family will be celebrating Jack's life on June 28, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at the Sons of Norway Lodge, where he and his family have been active members for several years.
Please say farewell to Jack as he floats away on his boat with his fishing pole and a Bud Light in hand. Cards can be sent to Kim Rush at 165 SW 14th Pl, Warrenton, Oregon, 97146. Donations can be made in Jack's name to the Ketchikan Yacht Club in leu of flowers.
