Astoria, Oregon - Joey Evan Matthew Mickelson, a vibrant soul whose life was a fusion of art, adrenaline and deep affection, passed away on October 13, 2025, in his hometown of Astoria, Oregon. Born on May 29, 1986, in the same close-knit community, Joey's life was a testament to the joy and passion he found in his interests and the love he shared with those around him.

From a young age, Joey exhibited a natural talent for BMX, a sport that became a defining part of his life. His fearless stunts and dedication to the craft earned him respect and admiration within the BMX community. Joey's love for the sport was infectious, and he was always eager to share his skills and knowledge with the younger generation, inspiring many to pursue their own passions with the same fervor.

Art was another of Joey's great loves. His creativity knew no bounds, and he expressed himself through bold strokes and vibrant colors. His artwork, much like his personality, was full of life and emotion.

Joey is survived by his loving mother, Sandy Mickelson; his fiance, Rebel and her daughter, Reign; as well as his 5 siblings and their families.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Mickelson. Joey's family takes comfort in knowing that his journey on earth has ended and he is reunited and at peace with his Dad.
