John Clement Tinner Obituary

Ocean Park, WA - John C. Tinner passed away on June 16, 2026, in Vancouver, WA at the astounding age of 94. Born on June 8, 1932, in Marshall, Texas, to John and Hilda (Waters) Tinner, John was a wild one!

Growing up in Tallahassee, Florida, John graduated from Florida A&M University. After completing JROTC and ROTC, he proudly served in the Army as First Lieutenant, which was an incredible accomplishment. He then spent 32 years working for Boeing as an electrical engineer, traveling the world to troubleshoot planes. When he moved here he continued his pioneering black electrical business "Jones and Tinner". Even when he wasn't officially on the clock, John enjoyed doing electrical work all around the peninsula and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

A man of wonderful and simple tastes, John's love of fishing brought him to Ocean Park, while his love of sunshine took him to Yuma, AZ. He spent his last 32 incredible years in Ocean Park with his beloved life partner, Sally Ann Kearns. They were an inseparable duo, with decades of memories that will never be forgotten.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda Tinner; his wife and the mother of his children, Ernestine; and his two sisters, Margaret Amoureau and Evelyn Dean. His wild, helpful, and adventurous spirit is carried on by his life partner, Sally; his brother, Stacy Tinner of Virginia; and his four children: Cheryl (Ocean Park), Donna (Seattle), Erwin (Seattle), Karl (Lake Oswego, OR)

He also leaves behind a massive, loving cheering section consisting of twelve grandchildren: Donald (Erica), Charles, Karl Jr., Candice, Chance, Kurtis, Tiana, Tokara, John T, Crystal, Cassandra, and KC. His family tree continues to blossom with 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild!

Just as he did in life, John left this world on his own terms, like a wild Mustang with a bottle of Jack in hand!

Services will be held to celebrate John's life Saturday, July 18 @ 1:00PM Ocean Park Community Church

We raise a glass (of Jack, of course!) to a life incredibly well-lived.
