"Bubbles"

January 26, 1943 - March 21, 2025

Kathy Lee Riva, affectionately known as "Bubbles," passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Warrenton, Oregon. She was born on January 26, 1943, in Astoria to Victor E. Urell and Marvel A. Urell. A lifelong Astorian, Kathy graduated from Astoria High School in 1961. That same year, on Friday the 13th of October, she married the love of her life, Michael Riva.

Kathy embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. She and Mike shared a love of travel and went on many memorable cruises. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards—eventually making it all the way to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas—and especially camping. Her favorite place was the family cabin in Loafers Valley, where many cherished memories were made.

Above all, Kathy loved being with her family. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating bonds and memories that will live on through them.

She is survived by her daughters, Jamie (Jon) Bue of Seaside and Mindy Riva of Astoria; granddaughters Ashley (Jason) Kraushaar, Megan Johns, Erin Johns, and Hilary Bue; and six great-grandchildren: Tanner, Tallen, Abby, Harper, Kage, and Ridge. She is also survived by her sisters Vicki Westerlund and Robinette (Bob) Williams of Astoria, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathy was a proud member of both the Astoria Moose Lodge and the Astoria American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, and her parents, Victor and Marvel Urell.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Radiant Care in Warrenton for the loving and attentive care Kathy received during her final years.
