Mitchell James Fery Obituary

Astoria, Oregon - On March 10, 2025, Astoria lost Mitchell Fery, owner of Astoria Grooming. Mitch was a Master Dog Groomer, skilled craftsman, U.S. Army veteran, and inventor. He was 66.

In 2003, Mitch received the Dr. Edward Harvey Historic Preservation Award for restoring the 1880's Victorian beauty at #837 38th Street in Astoria.

Mitch invented and received a patent for a dog grooming apparatus that requires no choke collar, only an adjustable smooth dowel under the belly to keep the dog comfortable, safe and standing while being groomed.

Born in Portland, Oregon, Mitch is preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn and Roy Fery, and sister Marlene Liburdi.

He is survived by brothers Michael and his wife Debbie, Jeffrey and wife Wendy, James and his partner Barbara, sister Louana Cerda and her husband Nikki, stepson Rick Nahstoll and granddaughter Maggie Nahstoll.

His beloved dogs have been adopted by his dear friend Nancy.

A private military graveside service is planned.
