Patricia Lee Ordway (Pat) Obituary

Seaside, Oregon - Patricia "Pat" Lee Ordway passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at home. Memories of her infectious laugh and warm smile, love for her family and friends and "welcome to our home" spirit will always remain.

Pat was born in Seaside, Oregon to Gordy and Ethel Shaw, and lived her early life close to the Prom with her older brother Bill. She attended Seaside High School where she made lifelong friends she kept in touch with regularly, met her future spouse and never missed a reunion. Pat remained in the Seaside/Gearhart/Cannon Beach area her entire life.

Her number one joy was her family. Her children - Gary, Greg and Jody; her husband Jim; and later her extended family of spouses and grandkids who she called her "chicks" were all held close to her heart. She was adept at keeping in touch with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. And it didn't end there. Pat was a considered a "second mom" to so many others who entered her life, and she made everyone feel like family with her kindness, generosity and enthusiasm. She also loved to host gatherings - the bigger the better. Backyard barbeques, crab feeds and holiday gatherings often became all day events full of love and laughter.

Pat was also a trusted and savvy entrepreneur from an early age. If she wasn't in school or at the Seaside Natatorium, she would ride a very special small bike up and down the Prom helping to promote her father's South Prom Bike Shop. Fast forward to when she entered the real estate industry over 45 years ago. She opened Seaside's first rental agency, followed by establishing the Gearhart real estate brokerage, Pat Ordway Realty, which she eventually sold so she could focus exclusively on working as an agent. Her clients became generational due to her expertise and passion for finding them "just the right house". She never truly retired.

Pat was an incredible daughter, sister, wife, mom, nana, friend, businesswoman, mentor and local foodbank volunteer. She is survived by her immediate family: husband of 58 years, Jim Ordway, her sons Gary Ordway and Greg Ordway, her daughter Jody Ordway and their families, and her brother William "Bill" Shaw.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her fantastic care team for their love and support during Pat's courageous battle with Parkinson's. A Celebration of Life will be held next month, details will be forthcoming. If you wish to honor Pat with a remembrance, please consider a donation to the Seaside Food Bank or the American Parkinson Disease Association NW Chapter.
