Robert Hunt (Pudgy) Obituary

Svensen, Oregon - The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Those are the words used by his daughter-in-law and many, many friends to describe Robert "Pudgy" Hunt.

Pudgy passed gently at the age of 86 on May 11, 2025 in his favorite place - the arms of his adoring wife, Connie, and daughter Kari McKay at the family home in Svensen.

Lest he come back to haunt Connie for overdoing his obituary, we will keep this brief.

There simply is too much to say and too much to remember about our giant of a husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend.

There will be two opportunities to hear and learn more about Pudgy Hunt.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 24 at noon at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 1465 Grand Avenue in Astoria. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 11:30 that morning at the same location.

A Celebration of Life is planned the following week, May 31 at 1:30 at the Barbey Center, near the Maritime Museum, 2042 Marine Drive in Astoria. Due to parking limitations on site, please plan to park at 2240 Commercial, east of the museum, and take the shuttle. The bus will operate from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
