Salem, Oregon - Robert Eugene Walther, Jr (Skip) was born July 15, 1943, in Astoria, Oregon. He died on February 28, 2026, in Salem, Oregon. Skip was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Thelma (Ness) Walther Sr, daughter Tracy Walther, and sister Connie Good. He is survived by his son, Guy Walther, son and daughter-in-law Gregg and Sandra Walther; grandchildren, Nicole, Alexandra, Melanie, and Kenneth Walther; great grandchildren, Kinsley and Alijah Walther, Consuela and Sofia Solis, and Liyana Navarifar; his sister, Marlyss Mehl; and his brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Pam Walther; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and longtime friends, Dean Patzer and John Wong.

Skip attended Lewis and Clark Central School and Astoria High School graduating in 196l.

He entered the US Army in 1962 and discharged in 1965. He was stationed at Schofield Air Base in Hawaii. He went to work for the US Post Office in Salem and retired in 2005. After retirement he did some traveling to Canada, Yukon, Bahamas, Mexico and China. The trip he really enjoyed was to Trondheim, Norway where his grandparents came from.

Skip was an avid sports fan and was known to drive miles to go to their events where he would find many of his old friends and classmates. He was seen at his old Alma Mater watching ball games. He belonged to the Salem Elks and Eagle Lodges.

Interment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
