Robert John Turk (Bob)
Robert John Turk (Bob) Obituary
Gearhart, Oregon - Robert John Turk, "Bob" — sharp-witted, endlessly sarcastic, and someone who loved a good party almost as much as a poker night — cashed out in May 2025 at the age of 87.
Born October 28, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, raised in Miami, Florida, Bob joined the Navy with dreams of seeing the world. Naturally,..the Navy stationed him in Key West, FL. But the best thing to come out of his time in the Navy was meeting and marrying his first wife and the mother of his children, Darlene. Together, they moved to Oregon to start their life — a place that would become home in all the ways that mattered. Later in life, Bob was dealt another winning hand when he met and married Carol. He cherished both marriages deeply.
A lifelong Yankees fan, Bob never missed a chance to celebrate a Red Sox loss. He also had a passion for classic cars and old tractors.
Bob had a lifelong soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Known affectionately by some as a bit of a "dog catcher," he welcomed many loyal companions over the years. His dogs were a steady source of joy, companionship, and stories — just one part of the full, love-filled life he created.
Bob was a man of fierce love and playful teasing. He made friends feel like family and family feel like gold — his legacy is built on the laughter, loyalty and love he gave freely.
He is survived by his son Robert John Turk, daughter Rennay Patnode, his grandchildren Casey Patnode and Stevie Rands, great-granddaughter Robbie Rands, and his sister Lynn Thompson.
He will be missed more than words can express — but we know he's up there, enjoying himself, sitting at a poker table holding a deuce-nine offsuit, betting big.
A memorial service will be held at the Seaside Legion, Saturday May 24th from 2:00PM - 5:00PM. Please wear Yankee colors and hats. Red Sox fans parking will be in the back next to the dumpsters.
