Milwaukee - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Maltas Stanley Jr. MD, who left this world on December 12th at the age of 85. William was known for his sense of humor, intelligence, and work ethic. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on May 28, 1940 in Astoria, William was the son of William Maltas Stanley Sr. and Myrtle Mae Stanley. William spent his early years living in Warrenton and graduated from Astoria HS in 1958. He then went on to the University of Oregon and University of Oregon Medical School in 1966 where he graduated at the top of his class. His medical career was centered in Salem, Oregon at Salem Hospital Emergency Room as well as his own business, The Immediate Care Clinic. He was a skilled and avid outdoorsmen. His happy place was on the rivers of the Northwest fly fishing or in the hills and marshes bird hunting with one of his multiple championship level bird dogs he had trained. After his medical career he captained commercial salmon fishing operations on the Lower Columbia River and Cook Inlet of Alaska. William had a rare intelligence and skill that allowed him to fix virtually anything. He was an expert problem solver and was the council for many people over the years. He touched the lives of many through his career as a physician, always willing to help as a first responder as well.
William is survived by his Sister Rebecca Butler of Portland, Daughter Adrienne and boyfriend
Jeff Bolton of Lake Oswego, Son Shawn and his wife Angie of West Salem, Grandchildren Irelyn and Ashelyn. His Niece Kirsten Jennings and Nephew Mike Falk and his wife Teresa, Great nieces and nephews Jaclyn Smith, Jake Jennings, Julia Bowen, Jered Jennings, Kellan Falk, and Chip Stauffer.
A celebration of William's life will be held at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton on May 10 at
12pm. All Family and friends are welcome to come honor and remember the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to any local homeless outreach or shelter.
Though he may no longer walk among us, William's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.
