Willola Jean Glegor (Dodi) Obituary

Astoria, Oregon - Willola Jean "Dodi" Glegor

Dodi Glegor, born Willola Jean Kelly, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. She was 93 years old. She was an adventurous soul, a loyal friend, and the proud matriarch of a sprawling family who upholds her legacy of love and laughter.

She was born on April 26, 1932, in Aumsville, Oregon, to the late Russell Kelly and Burnice Mack, spending her formative years in Knappa, Oregon, after the family moved there in 1937. She married her beloved husband, the late John Glegor, in 1952.

Dodi was a lifelong learner. She initially pursued a teaching degree before her marriage, but found her true calling in healthcare later, earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification from Western Oregon University. She dedicated her compassionate spirit to St. Mary's Hospital, working in the maternity ward.

Dodi soon transitioned her focus to her family, becoming a dedicated homemaker. As John worked for the Oregon Fish Commission (which later became the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife), Dodi took great pride in raising her five children at three different fish hatcheries throughout the Pacific Northwest, mastering the unique demands of rural life and filling their home with stability and love. She loved to cook and bake, had a true green thumb for planting beautiful flowers and vegetables, and loved to can the harvest. She also deeply enjoyed clam digging on the Oregon Coast. She passed down her expertise in canning and clam digging to her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, Dodi also loved to crochet blankets and pot holders, each one a warm reminder of her care and generosity. She had a great love for travel, whether by car, train, plane, or cruise ship, and was a devoted fan of the Seattle Mariners. She proved her resilience by climbing Saddle Mountain for the first time at age 65 and proudly kissing the Blarney Stone during her adventures in Ireland.

Family was always Dodi's highest priority; when she embraced the "snowbird" life and began traveling to Yuma every fall, the family created the tradition of "Phoney Thanksgiving" so they could celebrate before she left.

Dodi is survived by her children: Connie Glegor McCarthy, Nick Glegor, Ruth Lindstrom, Scott (Cindy) Glegor, and Kelly Bjork (Bryan); her partner, Bud Heilmann; her beloved bonus kids: Shawn (Paula) Teevin and Vicki Ramsey; her grandchildren: Mark Gill, Neal (Kym) Baird, Shannon Mathews, Kara (Mick) Morrow, Matt (Misty) Lindstrom, Aaron Glegor (Angel), Jake (Vycky) Cheuvront, Kevin (Chris) Glegor, Katie (John) Clark, and Aaron (Kimberly) Anderson; a host of great-grandchildren; and even a couple of great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Glegor (d. 1999); her siblings: Rex, Max, Don, and Peggy; and her grandsons, Brian Hartley and Andy Glegor.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and will celebrate Dodi's life in their own way.
